Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is the ideal non-abrasive facial procedure, giving you fast results of softer and smoother skin that feels fresher and rejuvenated.

What is Microdermabrasion ?
Microdermabrasion is a mechanical procedure, which sloughs off dead and dull skin surface layers.
How does it work?
This exfoliating technique helps to stimulate increased collagen production and rejuvenation. With just one treatment, many patients can see dramatic improvement in skin texture, time and colour. The benefits of microdermabrasion also include enhanced circulation and lymph flow, promoting the internal health of the skin.
How long does it take to see the full effect?
Each procedure takes approximately 45 minutes to perform and there is no downtime for the skin to recover. This treatment can be used as a stand-alone maintenance treatment or can be combined with our skin treatments / peels. For best results, many clients start with weekly treatments for three sessions, then change to a monthly maintenance regimen, depending on your skin's tolerance and desired cosmetic effects.
What can the treatment be used for?
Anti-ageing effect, softens fine lines and wrinkles. Visible improvements in the tone, texture, and colour of skin. Helps smooth coarsely textured skin. Decreases the appearance of acne and acne scars. Blackheads and whiteheads. Minimises enlarged clogged and open pore. Oily, dull, stressed or congested skin. Sun-damaged skin. Reduces superficial hyper-pigmentation (age spots). Skin Pigmentation. Increased product penetration. Mild complexion problems (such as uneven pigmentation)
What happens during the consultation?
Prior to the treatment, a through medical history is taken to establish suitability for treatment. The treatment is catered to a client’s needs. Once the client is happy, the consent form is signed and treatment can commence. During the first treatment we would require the client to attend 20 minutes prior to the procedure for a through consultation.
What happens during the procedure?
Before starting the microdermabrasion treatment, eye pads are placed on the eyes for eye protection. The skin is cleansed so that all make-up is removed. The skin will be stretched to provide some tension in order to achieve the most effective abrasion and vacuum. The hand piece is moved over the skin with repeated single, smooth passes.
What happens after the procedure?
An Aftercare leaflet will be provided to the client after the procedure. It is important to realise that Microdermabrasion takes off the outer superficial layer of your skin. Between treatments do not expose your skin to direct sun, wear a gentle sunscreen, even if it is a cloudy day.
What are the risks and side effects?
Mild pinkness of the skin is the desired outcome and usually resolves within minutes to hours after microdermabrasion. Mild exfoliation of skin may occur and moisturiser can be applied to keep the skin hydrated. Sunscreen is recommended as photosensitivity may be increased after treatment.
